I dropped on to the local supermarket for a snappy grocery purchase of a single-serve tin of dog food a few minutes ago. $1.29. Rounds up to $1.30, nearest denomination in wallet was $1.50. Collected said shrapnel and waited for service.

Anyway, while we're in this grip of interest rates that seem to hang over us like a guillotine would over one's Johnson, the chap in front of me also made a purchase.

$1.29 as well. A pack of crumpets. All been there, the old emergency crumpet run.

He paid with a card. I believe it was on credit. This brings the debt of the people of Australia up to a total of $1,000,000,000,001.30 - probably a sign of economic strife. (That's a million million, or a thousand billion, or a trillion for those down the back that knew debt could even go that high.)
