Warm + Fuzzy

There are a few things that really give you a good feeling.

Like when strict right-wing-for-life people decide to join the union.

It's always the same, they think they'll suck up to the boss, they'll get treated well, everyone else is just a whinger, I'll show them, management will appreciate my hard work, I won't be exploited, unions are for greedy people who don't want to work hard, I'm going places.

Then they cop it, and cop it, until the tail drops between their legs and they ask for a form.

"I don't want to give my address."

These people are, in my experience, usually afraid of their partner/family's opinions of them if they join. They want to keep it a secret and don't want any mail to arrive that might give their dirty little decision away. This is disgusting in the extreme. How could someone be so intolerant? Not only are they acknowledging the need for a union, at least at their workplace, they're not willing to admit it to their family. Surely there's some leeway? Surely there could be a "unions are unnecessary, except in extreme cases". Sadly not.

You have to be careful not to gloat, no one likes admitting they're wrong, which is especially true for the far-right populance.

If you look at it from managements point of view, they need to make a profit, and wage costs are the easiest target of all. It's therefore their job to pay people as little as possible, and force them to work harder/faster as much as possible. That's fine, as long as those people get to also have a say in the matter. Unions prevent slavery, and they also prevent the need for "Serious Class Reform."

Although those delegates at building sites really should be kept in check.

What I love is those people who are anti-union and as such refuse to join - until they are about to be fired or made redundant. Then they whinge and whine about how the union isn't helping them enough and they are still going to lose their job. To these people it is fine, nay just, to gloat.

Oh, and delegates at a building site, or any workplace for that matter should never be held in check.
